Tools Latency Tester

Latency Tester

Measure ping, jitter, and packet loss to any game server or IP address. Sends 5 probes and shows detailed statistics.

Want lower latency for your server?

portwarp has global server regions - choose the closest one to your players for minimal ping.

How Does the Latency Tester Work?

This tool sends 5 TCP connection probes to the target server and measures the round-trip time for each. It then calculates the average latency, minimum/maximum values, jitter (variation), and packet loss percentage.

Understanding the Results

  • Ping (avg) - Average round-trip time. Under 50ms is excellent for gaming, under 100ms is acceptable.
  • Jitter - Variation between consecutive pings. High jitter causes rubber-banding and stuttering. Under 15ms is ideal.
  • Packet Loss - Percentage of lost probes. Any loss above 0% will cause noticeable lag spikes.

Tips to Reduce Latency

  • Choose a server region closer to your players
  • Use a wired connection instead of Wi-Fi
  • Close bandwidth-heavy applications during gameplay
  • Use a tunneling service like portwarp with optimized routing
